Had this happen yesterday. Walked into a salvo yesterday on half off day- saw what i thought was an unattended cart with a polo fleece lined parka with patch and under it a cord Arnys Forestiere jacket. Asked the nearest guy if it was his and it was. He's just normal hype flipper but looked it up because it was made in France, I got there 10 minutes after he did. He paid $7.50 because it was half off. Found a pair of almost new Hanover shell ptbs, definitely still left with broken heart

Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.... Haha.

Chicago Thrift brothers,
I’ll be dropping off my nephew at Midway tomorrow and then heading back to Milwaukee. I don’t, unfortunately, have time for a full Chicago day, just time for one, maybe two stops along my route. I’ll either take 94, or more likely pop out to 294 and head north, depending on traffic and advice here. I’ll be leaving Midway a little after11, so not prime time, but not dead either. Any suggestions on anywhere I should hit along the way? I know I’m not far away, but I only get to Chicago a couple times a year, and usually don’t have time for a stop. While I’m at it, I might as well solicit lunch suggestions as well! No need to fill up the thread or post in the clear, just PM me if you want to offer any advice.

Sold the m2m 1965 Samuelsohn dinner jacket with gauntlet cuffs I posted a few weeks ago. I dropped it off at the post office and proceeded to make my regular thrift stop on the way home. What should I find? Another custom 60s dinner jacket with gauntlet cuffs.

Frenchy posted a link to Lou Myles's obit last year which was a really good read. I didn't know until I read it that John Gotti was buried in a Lou Myles suit.

The stuff is usually pretty nice but features dated 80s or 90s silhouettes and resale is pretty much always garbage. This one, however, should do alright.

Turns out the owner had a pretty interesting life too, serving as an Air Force mechanic in WWII, working as a family doctor and helping the Art Gallery of Ontario evolve into a pretty impressive cultural institution. He did an interview with a group that collects the stories of Canadian veterans in 2015. Worth a read or a listen if you've got a few moments. He passed away in 2017.

Not true thrift but this was definitely a goof on the part of one of this store’s employees. Seems like the price fell off and they re ticketed this current season Gucci belt in my size 34 (85) to $14.99. A lot of the belts were just generic prices of $14.99 and looks like they just went with that price. Still current on Gucci’s website.

Also grabbed this 70% cashmere 30% Silk Smedley for $40 Canadian which is $30 US. It is $500 on the Smedley website.

Who else is super excited to send their Thriftmas buddy their Sneaky Santa box! Mine is going by FedEx today!

I couldn’t send a hand written note like @drlivingston sent me in the past because his handwriting is beautiful and mine looks like a prescription. But, I hope the thought behind the gift is still demonstrated.

I hope my Thriftmas recipient enjoys his box(es)! More importantly, I hope this part of our own personal gift-giving has been fun rather than the chore that holiday shopping sometimes becomes.

And I hope we all take the time to value and appreciate our families and friends.

I don’t contribute as much as I would like. But, I sincerely value the friendships I have made on this forum. (And if anyone is coming to Memphis, let me know! I am learning some of the secrets of this fun city).
