This was West (Hammersmith), give enough time with places around Hyde Park and some pieces definitely slip through. Traid stores have a great selection but they mess up prices a good amount if you keep on looking.

I have a huge 1990s Women's fashion haul that is going to take me a few weeks to process and post here. Super happy with it though. 100+ items with an average cost of 1.25. Sneak Peek:

I just want to say prepping items to sell takes a good bit of time and effort. I can’t imagine how much time you full timers have to put in. Do you have systems or tips for expediting the process? How do you account for it from a business perspective?

I use consignment services and account for their profit share as OPEX costs of doing business.

If you have the means to do it yourself (taking photos, listing on merchant sites, packing and procurement, customer service, etc.), the margin is fatter for sure. But it would have to be your full-time or primary role. I'm more of a supplier/distributer in this use case.

Probably belongs on the eBay thread, so you might want to post there and see if you can get a discussion going . . .

One quick thing, though: I do WAY less prep than I used to 20 years ago, and only for the highest-$$$$ items. Back then, I would steam every garment, take every pair of shoes to the cobbler for polishing (when I had one locally), have my tailor adjust T-Rex sleeves to the most saleable length (when it cost $20 instead of $120), remove shoulder pads and on and on.

Now, I don't do any of that, but will simply disclose any concerns and suggest that the buyer cleans, polishes, repairs, steams, presses whatever they might be inclined to, and take a few bucks less. Some folks prefer "patina". But the REAL reason is that the margins just aren't there any more, so I won't add effort/labor to my COGS unless there's a ton of meat on the bone or if it will significantly add to the sale price (3 figures and up). Can't justify it otherwise, so I will happily leave it for someone else.

I guess I used to shop on the basis of label only when I first started. Now, my first consideration is "do I want this in my inventory" and "how fast will this flip and for what?" followed quickly by what I call the "deal with" factor. If I'm gonna have to "deal with" a lot to sell it, the dollar yield better be worth it.

As an example of what's worth it, here's that Ghurka #5 I posted the other day, all covered in mold. Definitely worth putting an hour or two into it! Another few coats of Bic4 and it will be ready for sale . . .
