99 cent (plus tax and however much one of these shop rags cost) terrarium for my kids to observe grasshoppers. The vase was even half price.

Blows my mind that someone who can afford a $2,000 jacket would spend the time to have a garage sale and unload it for $10. Insane.

The first time I find tailored jackets at any second-hand store that are actually close to my size, and they're not just vintage, they're antique. From before even the century before I was born. Never tell me the odds.

Idk why one side is longer than the other. Thats odd. But I can definitely work with this, it shares a color with a sport coat I have so some of the stuff that goes with that will go with this. I've got a black velvet waistcoat that'll really look good with this, and so will the staple black boots, black pants, and white french cuff shirt I was already eventually gonna get. I've even found some starched collars.

Highest armhole on anything I've ever worn.
No, I am not doing the "roman salute". Not on purpose.
This jacket was actually a little too small, so I resolved to sell it to a guy even smaller than I am who is into that kind of antique stuff.
You'll notice the pipings come off, so not in peak condition, and neither was the frock coat, it had a couple of small holes.

The outfit without either jacket. Was going for a Buster Keaton vibe.
Now that's how you make an entrance to the thread.

You guys are rocking it out there! Awesome finds! That reversible PRL vest!

I had to go up to Flagstaff today to get a loose crown fixed at the dentist. Haven't had much luck at the Flag GWs prior, so almost didn't bother. First of two had zero zip nada. But sure glad I stopped in to the second one, and 20% off with coupon . . .

Some sport coats, all nice, but the Belvest is a stunner:

Pop for me on Marimekko. Never seen it before around here.

Birks. I loathe Birks personally, about as much as I loathe Crocs, but they always flip fast.

I find that Jhane Barnes has a loyal following, and her stuff usually goes out quickly, so really happy to see this down quilted parka - the first I've seen from JB.

And finally, well this one just blew my mind: a couple days ago I found and posted my first cherry pop on Ede & Ravenscroft. Well, FFS, here's another one, and a doozie: navy flannel suit, adjustable waist on the pants. Truly amazing how spooky things happen in the thrifting world . . . Anyway, just gorgeous, and fortunately a size too small for me.

Things I Ought to Sell or Wear More often part II of ?: Japan Edition
Finding mainline Issey or Yohji pieces is so unusual that if the fit is right I am loathe to resell them - my personal thrifting monkey's paw is that my best, most valuable comeups tend to fit me. And statistically speaking there's just not much chance of my thrifting another windcoat..
IMG_5084.jpeg

IMG_5085.jpeg

i mean come on
IMG_5086.jpeg

I've found and sold a few other more conventional Issey pieces, but only the one Pleats, about a week after Miyake's death.
IMG_1080.jpeg

IMG_1081.jpeg

and I don't think I posted this corduroy tailored piece from late last year:
IMG_5087.jpeg

cropped, structured, with a wide wale and mao collar
IMG_5088.jpeg

I find even less Yohji - not pictured are two incredible pairs of mainline wool trousers that need some tlc.
IMG_5091.jpeg

costume d'homme 50/50 silk wool with texture the pics dont do justice to.
IMG_5093.jpeg

Engineered Garments I find annually maybe- true thrift, same store, couple of years apart (same guy? who knows):
IMG_5094.jpeg

hooded canvas field coat, probably a hair too small for me, probably a bit too thrashed to sell. and an hbone tweed bedford vest:
IMG_5095.jpeg

and a couple of ethrifted pieces from back when that was still viable:
IMG_5100.jpeg

I've had this for maybe nine years and never worn it out, but come on man.
IMG_5101.jpeg

I just need an appropriate setting, like say an ayahuasca ceremony
IMG_5102.jpeg

and this bad cowboy coat by needles I wear once in a blue moon but I haven't committed yet. I have a fierce love/hate relationship with suede.
IMG_5103.jpeg

unlined, glove soft deerskin with looped antler buttons and big bellows pockets. Sigh. Some day I'll just say eff it and start dressing like a post apocalyptic rancher all the time.

Dude you and I have the same problem. 75% of the stuff I find fits me. Doesn’t hurt that I’m a sample size of course. It’s a blessing and a curse. I found a Issey escape jacket for $5 last year and although it’s listed, (and my size), you may have just convinced me to keep it lol

Need advice. Never seen this brand. Any good? Thinking of replacing my navy blazer.

On another note, anyone know who this maker is? Anything special? View attachment 2036357
Seems like there was a flurry of these Antonio Maurizi shoes a few years ago. They're one of those mid-tier Italian brands, or off-brands, that build product for the likes of Nordstrom and other haberdashers. They make a big deal about being so-called "artisan" shoes, but I'm not convinced they are fully bench made. Having said that, they're OK-looking shoes, usually with antiqued finishes, but they're slowwwwww movers on the flip, probably because now they've filtered through to Nordstrom Rack etc. and are heavily discounted NIB. I think I might still have a couple pairs stashed away in storage for personal (a supposed future where I actually go back to work-work).

@WoolyLamb that Canaletto suit is one of those from a low-to-mid-tier place where people with limited budget go to buy an "Italian suit". There are tons of these: Mantova, Giorgio Cosani, Angelo Rossi, anything with two random Italian names ending in vowels. They are generally worthless in the resale market, though REDA cloth is nothing to be sniffed at. Having said that, I just sold a Studio Milano suit for fifty bucks (it was on the dollar rack), so there does exist a limited market for that kind of stuff, though to be honest, when it sold I was like, "really?" lol. I have to say, though, this one gave me a laugh . . .
