You guys are killing it out there! Not much time to thrift here, but managed to duck into a GW on the way back from a trip to Phx, and was quite surprised. Not a bad one-stopper . . .

First up, was happy to unite the two halves of this gorgeous shawl tux from Oxxford. Recent too, and with a Neiman Marcus PS in the chest pocket. Love the deep V-notch on back on the pants.

It was definitely a shoe day: Magnanni boots that can only have been tried on, as there's zero wear on the soles. My size too, dammit. Nice foddery Luccheses at back. Those always go out fast. Oh, and at the front: not from the 1-stop, but from a thrift near me. Been watching these for months. They started at $50 a pair, but I finally had to kop when they went below $10. I'll probably never move 'em because they're 11.5AA, which in my experience pretty much never sell, but damn, that Cornell on the right is a gorgeous shoe (for AE) . . .

Back to the 1-stop: a couple nice offerings from PRL, one pair of Bals from England, loafers from Italy. Decent Cannoli drivers on the left, and since you guys have been on the slipper game, a pair in my size (mint but Brutini).

Instakop Coogi as it rolled out on the rack, and a Carraig Donn ladies' Aran cardie.

RLX, RL D&S and cool shawl Orvis.

Like I said, nuthin' fancy, but a decent example of a profitable 1-stop for ten bucks and change PPU . . .

Damn! Shoes en fuego!

The week in review. Nothing too exciting.
I spent about an hour making some vintage Florsheim v-cleat shell brown again.

Picked up a couple ice buckets. Can't find anything on the history of the restaurant- I clipped the name "Cafe du Monde" (not the one in NO) have them in a display cabinet at work.

Very nice, Barker Black is a pretty rare find.

Someone needed some black shoes, and made them black with a lot of polish. I looked at a few online articles and some youtube videos, and I came to the conclusion that they were all for hobbyists with more time than sense who want to rub some leather all day, or someone trying to sell me something. So I hit them with rags and lacquer thinner then followed up w/ some neutral cream. Now, they're shiny and sellable. My apologies to the purists in the thread.

I'm not sure exactly what you used, but I know that general "Acetone" is an okay polish remover in the shoe world. I'm not sure if it's that good for Shell in the long run. Your work looks great for 1 hour spent.

I probably would've used Saphir Renomat, as it does a great job of removing old polish without being too harsh.

Straight up lacquer thinner. I'd imagine it's possible to ruin the leather using such a harsh chemical, though it may not be more aggressive than acetone. If I had Renomat, I may have used it, but as a woodworker, I have a lot of lacquer thinner hanging around. I probably would have gone through a whole bottle of the reno trying to get it all off. In some areas, especially at the joint between the upper and sole, the wax had an appreciable thickness.
