Zegna cashmere car coat xxl - true thrift; I have 3 of these - but this is the only one that has a breast pocket

Tags on inside are tired, but match the ones I have

BB London Leather from my BB horde haul - I trust the sender, same size as a few others, and looks legit, perfect stitching, awesome shape, choc brown ... Just wondering because it was really inexpensive... And it's my first leather

Not you? Ah well somebody had some good pointers but ive done this a coupla times for keepers... ill add that acid (lemon, vinegar) is not a bad idea for a final rinse but no substitute for soap/detergent.

Soap btw is alkaline and there is a reason that soap boosters (borax etc) are alkaline - they 'protect' the soap from exhaustion during a scour (most organic material aka dirt/stains will actually be slightly acid) soap meanwhile stops working in acid environments... long story short soap cleans things. Truth!

^^^ this is the truth;

the one thing I'd add is with silk and vintage in general (especially on light colors and thin fabric) is you can get clean spots, where its uneven - which can be really noticeable on older stuff or thin - especially if time has had a chance to set in or soap can make colors seep and soak in - I had a label bleed onto a white shirt

Sometimes It's better to have an even, slightly muted refresh with a acid wash - or just have it dry cleaned at a specialty place.... A lot of dry cleaning is actually wet; but the machines and chemicals can be controlled more evenly - look for one that specializes in bridal dresses - hell hath no fury like a woman with a damaged dress and a Yelp account; so they tend to be the ninjas in their field.

Also - all soap is not created equal...

Ymmv but we wash the really bad rescues found with lesions and the worst fur (rescued one someone tried to drown in a partially full oil drum) in regular dawn (blue) or dr Bronners; or occasionally that antique bar soap recommended here for shirts grated up as a booster... Or Johnson's baby shampoo (for the abandoned puppies)

Works great on clothes - especially after they had to reformilate with green chemicals.
