Does anyone have a couple month review on the deck jacket? I tried it on at my local shop, just popped in, and it literally was almost holding my arms in place, it’s so awesome. It definitely transports you to another era when you put it on. Really hoping to find a medium on sale at some point. Or if anyone is done with theirs…PM me. View attachment 1697027
I bought the Freewheelers model last year so couldn't tell you, but RRL's is, I hate to say, even nicer. I saw a different model somewhere on SF that RRL made several years back which is even more incredible. Take a look through the SF archives and you'll probably see it--it's gray.

That's a glowing review! May have to really think about this one...I am trying to decide, if I can only keep one, which of these to get - going for versatility, but also, if I am going to have one RRL statement outerwear, I am always going to lean to Jacquard, it seems more iconic to me.

These are my two options - got the left otw, but I could always flip it.

Looks great- when you say holding your arms in place, do you mean its stiff? would you say it's a warmer jacket or more of a spring/fall piece due to lack of lining? Was looking at this piece as well as I've been trying to find an N1 but haven't had much luck in the fit department

Deck jacket front is lined. The back and sleeves are not. Fabric is thick and tightly woven so it's reasonably warm.

This is super cool, I love it! However, not that it's not worth it, but my current limit for outerwear puts that way out of reach. However, I think I just really like deck jackets apparently, because I also really like that. The lining would make it more useful in winter for sure, definitely a 1 season piece though where I live.

I would agree with prior sentiments - I would say it's spring/fall, and if you don't have a true winter, it could be worn then too.

Yeah, I was exaggerating the arms in place thing, what I was trying to get across was how thick and sturdy it felt. It certainly fit like a box, and did not have any shape at all - it's not a piece to show off your figure IMO. But the sleeves were surprisingly the right length for me, I usually deal with sleeves being too long, definitely feel like I could work in the jacket, like enough range of motion.

I always liked the vintage and repro N-1's but found the cloth to be too stiff and generally cut way too wide at the shoulders with an aggressive taper. Earlier this year Chrysallis came out with a navy loden cloth piece with alpaca pile lining from Steiff, the teddy bear company. Apparently they are the only ones who still make it. O'Connell's here in the US stocked them for this season and I recently purchased one, just waiting on the sleeves to be hemmed.

Anyway, it's a really nice piece and the fit is generous without being exaggerated. I am really psyched about this jacket, and it should fit well with RRL pieces and plenty warm for the NE winter.

I love the piece I have. I get anxious because some wool/cashmere combos are itchy. The one I posted is soft as can be
slimmer that I thought it would it be for a layering piece...or I got bigger than I thought. I have a Medium if anyone's interested.
