My old captoes on aberdeen in whiskey shell -- I don't have them anymore (sold to an alden aficianado on SF). Probably the best shell pair I had.
FYI, alden does not make balmorals on the modified last. Bluchers only.

Gorgeous. Bals are not my thing but these look beautiful and illustrate why Whiskey is so nice. The two-toned patina is very unique and is most evident with Whiskey cordovan.

**** Alden. Everytime I am interested in getting a pair there is something that stops me. It has been this way for years.

Just an FYI: I needed some replacement laces for my shell LS x alden jumpers and found http://www.peasandcornco.com/shoelaces/fashionrounddresslaces.asp . I decided to have some fun and picked up some in ice blue, etc, and they're.. kinda cool. For those of you wearing similar boots as mine, you want the 54" laces. I ordered the 63" due to a sizing mistake on another pair I picked up locally (I though they were 54", but were 48" and too short), but they look good and I wrap the ankle, but the 54" should be perfect. That little bit of color really does make it stand out a bit more, if that's your thing. I'd like to find flat waxed black laces, but maybe not so much now that I've found these.

I've read a few comments here about not liking colored laces, but I'm kind of diggin' them and am thinking about picking up a pair or two. Thanks for the link!

for the tsm #4 wingtip boot, anyone know if they'll let you preorder any sizes outside of the 8.5-11 range?

So, now I sort of understand why I can't buy any Alden shell boots that I want.

(1) there is a shortage of shell cordovan leather from Horween
(2) it takes 1 horse butt to make a pair of shoes

sort of puts everything in perspective now.
