Every year, like a New Year's Resolution, I say to myself, "With these prices increasing to the levels they are, I'm out. I'm done with Alden."

That goes about as well as my weight loss every year.

PSA: Before I send these shell size 32 belts (top and bottom) to rancourt, anyone interested in them? The shell is really smooth and the finish is really good. I decided to go with the Kreis belts instead. Thanks!

PSA: I was on phone with Alden DC asking about putting me on wait list for Whiskey LHS and they told me that they had 2-3 pairs from the recent batch which haven't been claimed yet. One of them was in my size ( 10D) so I immediately bought one. I don't know what other sizes are available with them, but if you want one it doesn't hurt to call and ask..

We spent all day Friday at the Alden factory, which was an amazing experience overall. No photos allowed on the floor, so I don't have any cool pictures of shoes being made.

The highlight was spending an hour getting educated on leather by Art, the president/owner of Alden. They go to extraordinary lengths on sourcing good hides, and have deep relationships with tanneries worldwide to get just the right inputs for their footwear.

There is no "6-eyelet chukka machine" - that is patently untrue. It'll be back in production in the future.

Yeah, there were a few racks floating around, and a handful of uncut shells in whiskey, #2, and ravello.
