Then you are an idiot. The only value of an MBA is rebranding and networking, particularly at top programs. Period.
y u mad, breh?

If you go back and read his posts, you will see that he's not looking for that, and I think the argument makes sense. I say this as someone at an FT MBA who understands not only the value of networking and rebranding, but also the very practical skills you can learn in the classes if you want to. That whole element of coursework is sadly discounted into oblivion when these discussions get going.

+1 to this. The educational elements of an MBA are VERY important. Networking and rebranding are emphasized much more in MBA programs than they are in undergraduate programs, so people tend to associate those things with the MBA. Still, anyone who doesn't take the coursework seriously is a true idiot. Being able to understand and apply knowledge of a variety of topics is crucial for success in business. People who didn't take it seriously are weeded out pretty quickly.

Starting my second year soon. Currently in the health care management track, but I'm strongly considering switching to the CFA track. Decisions...

That seems like a pretty big change, lol. You might want to start giving that some serious thought ASAP.

Any activity in this thread? I've been out of school for about 3.5 years working as an Engineer from an accredited Canadian University; plan on writing my GMAT sometime at the end of this year. Not sure how to proceed as my GPA is quite poor (2.4-2.5ish). I've read some sources saying you can take quant courses to show you can handle the rigor, but it won't assist in boosting your GPA.

I know my primary focus is to score well on the GMAT and have a strong essay / references - but what else can I do concerning my GPA?
