This trailer also played before I Am Legend and all I could think about was being a little kid and pretending to pull out a huge pistol from my pants like in the 1st Batman. The second was, of all the villians in the comic books why did they have to use the Joker again?

He is to batman as Prof. Moriarty is to Sherlock Holmes. They did restart the franchise with a lesser known villain though, so you have to at least give Christopher Nolan some props for that.

+1. If you re-imagine Batman, you have to re-imagine his arch-enemy. There's a reason the two gravitate to one another -- they get each other, in a twisted sort of way. Joker,as he's become cast in the later Dark Knight books, is a truly sick psychopath of near-virtuoso capacity, not just a kooky clown with a bad disposition. The face paint isn't a mask but the inner persona turned outward. This Batman is even more humorless, with a moral flexibility toward reaching the ends.

On a somewhat related note, it's interesting they replaced Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhaal -- maybe Katie got too kooky.

I've been looking forward to this movie since Batman Begins came out.

I think it should be good. The new Joker is in keeping with the 'new' Frank Miller style Batman, darker and more serious. And I agree that you can't do Batman movies for long without bringing in the Joker.

I kind of miss Cesar Romero:
