I'm somewhat reassured about your taste, but still incredulous that anybody sane can enter a dark room to be repeatedly subjected to the void that is Aaron Eckhart for a period of nearly three hours and come out in a good mood. Also, the "Russian" girl sounded like a French girl doing an impression of a German man with a head cold. And as somebody mentioned before, what was with that dude in the eyeliner?

The actor Nestor Carbonell always looks like that, not sure what the deal is.

Good movie, but not great. I wish they either cut 30 minutes and eliminated a couple of plot lines or added another 30 minutes to build on a few themes. I would definitely recommend this movie. For a film called The Dark Knight, you'd think there'd be more Batman in it, like Batman Begins. Looking forward to the next Chis Nolan/Christian Bale Batman flick.

I just saw the movie and it was nowhere near as good I remember Batman Begins being. I'll have to watch the first two Batman movies because I was really young when I saw them.

I thought Joker was awesome, very much exceeded expectations. Bale is the best Bruce Wayne, though that Batman voice kind of annoyed me. I felt like the movie was so long that it could have been broken up into two. Two Face seemed too non sequitur. He should have been introduced closer towards the end and left a sneak peak for the next Batman.

The dialog in the first half has very awkward and the there were way too many implausible plot holes to be overlooked.

Also, where was the babe in this one?

I'm not sure how I feel about Batman going international. Seems weird seeing him out of Gotham and in Hong Kong. Is this from the comics?

But seriously, I'd have to say I was underwhelmed by TDK. This probably has less to do with the actual movie (which I'd consider a decent thriller and a good superhero movie) than the weeks of (over)hype that preceded it. Heath Ledger was really good, Eckhart and Caine (Cockney accent ftw) did alright, everything else (other actors, the plot, the pacing, action scenes etc.) was just blah.

Then again, I don't care for either the original comic or Batman Begins. Seeing Maggie Gyllenhaal in Donnie Darko the night before didn't exactly help either.

o_O; Two-face was the whole point of the movie. The point is that anyone can be brought down to the joker's level given a bad day - Harvey dent was supposed to be the "white knight" of gotham, incorruptable - but he was corrupted. Only Batman is incorruptible and he isn't really a "good guy" - the city is so bad that it can only be solved through someone above the rules.

Loved it.

How will anyone ever be able to play The Joker again? Heath Ledger was amazing.

They won't as it would require virtually the best actor of our time to just try to match it plus it would just end in diaster as the comparisons would be a nightmare.

...just to build on that, Jack Nicholson may well be the best actor of our time, and his Joker wasn't in the same league as Ledger's.

Jack Nicholson is cool and all but he basically plays the same character in every movie and as far as I'm concerned that discounts you for greatest actor of our time.

I agree. He's a great character, but he isn't a great actor. I think Heath Ledger is actually a better actor than Nicholson, because he was totally unrecognizable in his role as the Joker, and he pulled it off. That's what makes a good actor, someone who can do totally different roles and make them all totally convincing.
