Rob Lowe actually played a reasonably approximate Charlie Sheen facsimile on Californication this season. He would make a really good replacement.

(Given that the work on Californication was shot long before the Sheen fiasco, my guess is that it was meant to resemble Robert Downey Jr. in his crazier days. But the parallels to Sheen are undeniable).
