1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I did on my late 2010 MacBook Air. Nothing notably different for me.

Still kinda wary on using iCloud drive across my Mac and iPhone.

I think I might downsize to the 7. The lack of one handed use is bothering me more and longer than I thought it would.

Will continue using the plus for a couple more days but handling the non plus at work tugs at my heartstrings in terms of usability.

iOS 10 has a bunch of little touches I keep discovering and enjoy. The .gif implementation in iMessages is really nice and I love how it lets me reply to text messages without interrupting video or a game that I am playing. Small things, but they go a long way to making the overall experience nicer.

so far macos sierra seems a bit slow ? not sure what's going on. i had same number of tabs open in chrome as before upgrade.

in other news, matte black 7+ 32gb ordered (work device so i guess storage not really crucial, hopefully) :D

Really don't like what they are doing with imessage. Group texts with a mix of different phone types are going to get weird.

They are adding so much junk to it to compete with things like whatsapp and wechat (and hangouts and facebook messenger)...but they are doing it all in what is still the default SMS texting app.

I believe messaging is best done in an open platform. Restricting it to iphone owners only, with some half assed fallback for non-iphone users (that most users don't even understand) just seems wrong. All of the apps they are competing against are available on any device and can be used to talk to anybody.

Furthermore, while some of those apps offer SMS integration alongside their flashy features...every non-iPhone out there allows you to use a standard SMS-only app.

They should just embrace imessage as a completely separate messaging system and allow everyone to use it...

Lots of hand waving by the usual Apple Bloggers on the company's decision to not drastically change the design of the 7. Gruber is trying to argue that Apple is positioning the iPhone as an Iconic design like the Eames lounge chair or the 911. The failure of this argument is fairly easy to see as Apple has historically radically redesigned the iPhone every two years. The 3, 4, 5 and 6 are for the most part fresh designs that don't look like the models before. This will happen again if the rumors of next year's iPhone are true. Will the arguments being made today be quickly forgotten in 2017? I'd guess yes.

EDIT: FWIW, I like the look of the matte black iPhone 7 and never cared much for the 6 or 6S. The little touches like the finish have made a big difference,

I find the 7 plus surprisingly usable with one hand. And the battery life is impressive, don't know if it's just the plus having a larger battery or if the A10 chip's power saving function actually works well.

Sometimes the new releases have a few bugs to work out that can cause issues with battery drain. After a patch or two they tend to get worked out. For what it's worth my iPhone 7 seems to be slightly better battery wise, but I wouldn't call it impressive.

So is it safe to go on iOS 10 now? Or are we still waiting to see if there's fuckups?

I'm returning my 7 plus today and getting a regular 7.

Also canceled my 7 plus jet black pre order.
