I thought I was getting a suede tongue. I was surprised to see shell when I opened the box. Were these offered with a suede tongue?

Depends on intended usage. I lean very casual, so the chocolate brown suede tongue would have been great for me. For those who got leather soles and want to dress these up, the shell tongue clearly would be preferable.I think a suede tongue would take away from these for me. Glad to see AE went all-shell.

Haha, I'm not at all complaining about what I received. Just giving an alternate view point.
Outstanding!
What happened to your coffee?

Got it. I can post a coffee picture for you!I’m trying to cut down on caffeine due to a stomach acid issue that has developed. It’s now only an occasional beverage, as opposed to several times a day.

I’ve thought about this coffee issue myself. There’s one thing that I’ve never understood:
Coffee is mildly acidic.
Our stomach acid is strong enough to break down food.
How is it that drinking coffee has a significant impact on our stomach pH? It seems that it would dilute the strength of our stomach acid (although less so than water).
I stopped taking a PPI after reading about negative consequences from long-term use and noticing improvements when I cut wheat from my diet. From what I understand, the caffeine irritates the stomach lining, beyond the issue of the beverage’s ph level (which of course is significantly increased when one adds milk and sugar, as I do).
Cold brew is supposed to be lower acidity, but you still get adverse affects from the caffeine.
My issue is complicated, but the short version is that I stopped taking a proton pump inhibitor after 8 years on because of concern over polyps (also my dad died of stomach cancer), so I’ve tried to manage the resulting withdrawal acid deluge with dietary changes.
