    Good on you.
Anything that can be mediated with diet changes beats pharmaceutical intervention. I remember as a boy hating dad's coffee, we just train ourselves to like things over time anyway. It's not easy, but something else will pick up where the bean leaves off.

Does anyone know whether AE will still do a simple one-off MTO for current models? By this I mean make a current model shoe, one that's only offered in black calf, for example, in black shell instead. No other modifications, just a different leather.

I'd sworn off more purchases for a while because the GMTO HM's in shell were very expensive. But man -- over on the other thread Bagley Brown posted pics of his shell Long Branches and...WOW. The Branches are great boots and do they ever look fantastic in brown shell.

They will probably do a Dalton in black shell. Ask! It's almost exactly like the Long Branch, but smaller per holes and leather soles (so dressier).

Thank you Joe! And I am confused by how I would use a black shell boot so will be interested if you work something out. Short answer is (probably) yes, they will take a current model and run it in black shell for an MTO fee above retail of $110 or so.

I have convinced myself that I would like a black shell Stirling, but the range of maybe confused dress/casual details scares me that I could end up with an interesting closet dweller. Still may happen at some point, but not soon.

The Dalton is probably a better fit for black, unless maybe if you are really going for a badass casual jeans boot.

Wow, sir, such patience! <g> Congrats and Welcome to the party though, they look great!

WaWa. Not my top choice, but addicts can't be choosers.

You can almost certainly get this done if all you are asking for is a shell upgrade (in black, brown or burgundy) and you're willing to pay about $110 over the normal shell cost. So you're looking at $760 (shoes) to $835 (boots). You might be able to get other colors of shell if they have enough in stock.

If your looking for something other than shell, it will still cost you $110 over the normal retail price of whatever model you are planning to MTO, and again they have to have the material in stock.

A sole/welt change is possible, but I wouldn't count on too much more than that. They have aparticular aversion to changing stitch color.

Never hurts to ask. Call Kristen at Paramus or Ashley at Charleston, they have recent experience with getting things through the custom department. Or, if you have a favorite SA/SM, they might appreciate the business.

FYI, Kristen at the Paramus outlet has a pair of Navy Shell Cambridge seconds, 10.5D.

Me too. I wore mine for a full day and another half day and seriously love the way that sole feels on my feet.

It feels just like the Toby Mini lug which was really popular. My only concern was that it was clear, I like that fine now and would repeat- a solid new option depending on how durable it wears.
