Just listed my Cascades boots in the classifieds here. Labeled as 12B, runs a tad small, good for 11-1/2 B or even 11 B if you like heavy socks. Here's the link:

Newly listed in classifieds are my Eastport shoes. They look really nice, labeled 12B, my size, but these are way small, good for 11 or even 10-1/2 B ... A width folks should also consider them. Here is the link:

Yeah. I really, really want to see them drop the ultra refined calfskin. "Ultra refined" = "we put acrylic on it".

No technohorse. No cobbler. Stop. Just give me full grained calf.

Hi :)
How do you *know* they use this finishing process? Some of the older discontinued models say ultra refined calf, and they seem to be several years old... from what I understand, for example, the Lombard boot was made from the same leather as the indepandance line, basically the left overs when they discontinued that line, and this is called Ultra refined calf in the Lombard boot description?

Pulling out a feather welt this morning. Next on the docket is trying to figure out where to deploy my stop limit trades that have proliferated these past few weeks. Maybe some short term bonds until I find the next opportunities. View attachment 1893171
Nice shoes, great color and I find the markets are more fun with a higher VIX but I am in the minority on that for sure.

It is a guess from calling many tanneries and getting some coded answers that would point to some polishing in their process. As for the Lombard, we all know that AE is not great with describing their products. My best guess is that they used up the Indy leather and planned to go Ultra Refined if the boot caught on. Indy leather was double tanned. One type of tanning for softness and stretch and another type for strength.

I wish that AE was a little more innovative with the featherwelt line. They had the right feel for a generation of sneaker wearing people. I just don’t think that they had the look. I also do not think that many people remember investing in the 70’s, when you had to be much more patient and careful.
