Okay, you guys got me thinking about moving 50k over to a high interest online account. Nerd Wallet pointed me towards CIT Bank which is paying 2.45% on a straight savings account. Anyone have a CIT account?

Capital One 360 ain't been keeping up.

ING Direct originally made it big as one of those online high yield banks. Looks like they aren't going to stay that way as rates go up under Capital One ownership :(

Does Ally let you do anything resembling "sub-accounts"? That's the one cool feature that ING offered that Capital One has continued to offer. I don't use it as heavily as I could, but I still find it handy as a way to earmark money.

We closed our brick and mortar account like 3 or 4 years ago. I remember the branch manager being like "We've heard many people having problems with online banks and coming back to us.". I remember thinking "I hope to never step foot in a bank again." and haven't. I'm sure there are many people who cannot fathom a world without a brick and mortar bank.

We actually use Ally and Cap One.

Before taxes it's like a c-note per month for doing nothing. Basically, I am now FIRE'd.
