Relax. I have a lot more VRX than you and I'm not particularly worried.

I've been through a few rides before. I remember CHK hitting $1.50. That was a great time to buy if you didn't believe that they would go bankrupt.

I'm pretty calm all things considered. I increased my stake 100% this morning.

Btw what are the bonds for VRX trading at now? I can't seem to find that information.

Also wondering if we're approaching takeover levels.

Bonds are trading from 75-96 depending on maturity.

Like I said, anyone owning VRX doesn't like money.

Thanks. How often is that updated / are those prices reflective of today's earnings?

I grabbed it from Bloomberg so the prices reflect earnings and are traded throughout the day. Their loans all still trade in the 90s.

So do PE firms.

Assets are very expensive at this point.

Assets have been expensive for a while though. There's just nowhere else to find returns right now. People are probably waiting for the dip after the December rate hike.

I've started trimming some of my airline stocks and if they'll go just another 4-5% up from here I'm going to sell them completely. Currently holding AAL, LUV, and DAL. Accounts for about 5-6% of my portfolio. I'll be happy to be out of this industry and take at least a 10-15% return, maybe closer to 15-20% (I'm not exactly sure) and move the money elsewhere.

Speaking of elsewhere, I've earmarked the above money to pick up 1/4 each of SBUX, NKE and 2/4 of BX. Two oldies that will need to find their legs again but have a pretty good shot at it and are reasonably priced at these levels, and BX, they're huge, they know what to do with my money, and they'll pay me a handsome div while I wait for the stock to appreciate, which could be worth another 10-15% upside too. Unless someone can tell me a good reason not to, I'm thinking of adding quite a good chunk to BX...

Am also waiting to add quite a bit more to my LULU position. I think these guys are facing competition and logistical issues as they grow, plus just an overall down retail sector... but I think they've proven themselves before and will do it again. If I had to bet on retail, LULU is one of the ones I really like. Maybe I'm being more emotional than numberical but what can I say, I just like these guys and enjoy their products and believe in them.

I used to work for SBUX during undergrad. I believe in the product and their expansion into China is aggressive but could work out. I think it would be worth holding through the quarter but I would be spooked for earnings calls with any remark about China sales being weak. Plus 52-week lows don't hurt.

It's a shame they're such a pain to buy.

I also plan to increase my stake. Will sell off some of my bond funds.

Equity price isn't the biggest barrier to take over. It would be logistically hard since a signifigant premium would have to be offered (or else the share price would run up very quickly) and a huge chunk of bridge financing to call in all the debt. Not that many people sitting out there with $40B in the bank.

Tempting, I always like holding shares of companies I buy things from.

Vanguard only lets you buy bonds for BBB or better companies if I am using the search form correctly. I assume if you called you could get the bonds but they would warn you of speculative investments like that and may charge a higher fee.

Most retail brokers I've spoken to have simply told me that they can't buy them.

S&P futures down 3.5% before Florida has been called. If FL goes Trump, they will tank a lot more.
