Suits: What's a step above Target, Wal-Mart, JC Penney etc...

Forgive me for being poor, but I want to buy a suit and/or sport jacket just for my own reasons, nothing in particular. I wear a $10 clearance dress shirt at work and people look at me for being weird and way overdressed.

I'm pretty sure JC Penney and maybe even Kohls would be a step above Target and Wal-Mart, but what's a step above JC Penney? I don't know of any other stores or where people usually shop for suits.

Maybe something between $200-400?

Cant you find a decent consignment shop in your area and get a good suit?

I'd say Macys, this time of year they have plenty of sales. You could probably get something relatively cheap.

If there's no Macy's, maybe you can go to TJmaxx and look at the Lauren suits.

I fully admit to being ignorant. Up until recently I was just a tshirt guy all my life. With is a consignment shop? Are there namebrand stores to go to? Other than Men's warehouse... Do I look up suits in the phonebook?

Burlington Coat Factory.

Apparently the suits at Target are actually pretty nice.

And I found a couple nice suits at Marshall's/TJMaxx.

If you can wait, yes. You can get great deals from B&S. Or, if you're patient, you can get a good suit on sale. Got a RLBL suit for $400 early this year from the Philly RL store. Keep in mind that alterations cost money too.
