Suit jacket alterations...anyone know how exactly hey let something out?

So I have a brooks brothers 3 button blazer that I have had for a while now, and unfortunately I have gotten bigger, even when I bought it they tailored it on the snug side but I figured that was normal since I didn't know much about fitted clothing...

I was wondering is it possible to have the jacket let out, if so what do they do? would brooks do this or am I better off finding someone else? or is my best bet to lay off the hamburgers and beer for a while? FWIW the jacket is tight in the mid section and while I can button it, it just isn't comfortable.

Yes, it can be altered. But there will be no hope for great style letting it out (the trend is taking it in).
