Hi everyone,
Wondering what you think of the shoulders of this suit. Are they too wide? I do have somewhat wide shoulders, and in jackets a size or two down it can pull in the middle of the back. This one (42R) doesn’t feel like pulling and feels comfortable across the back and chest, but do the shoulders stick out too far? I’ve gone up one size for this one, as I’m usually a 40.
I am aware that the waist will need to be let out a bit as I’m about 5-10 pounds overweight and it’s too tight there. The pants fit ok though. Also I plan to wear with a white shirt and tie, just happened to only have a black tshirt at the time
Advice appreciated! If it’s an obvious no-go please let me know. Thanks

I don't think your suit shoulders are too wide for your frame, given contemporary proportions, and Tom Ford dimensions. If they look too wide for you, then you could talk to a talented tailor. Most tailors won't touch the shoulders, but if you find someone with sufficient experience, you can narrow your jacket shoulders by 0.5 inches on either side.

Be careful about narrowing the shoulders too much, because that could change the remainder of the silhouette in unfortunate ways.

I removed most of the shoulder padding from several suits, and had my tailor narrow the shoulders, including those on my Tom Ford suits, and the results were exceptional. I have well-defined shoulders so any significant shoulder padding gives me the Romulan linebacker look.

However, you have to find the right tailor, since most don't have the skill to adjust shoulders on a suit jacket.

Too much fit issues. Find a jacket which fits you in the shoulders first and go from there.
