If you don't have to carry too much just get a nice messenger bag. I've got a Visconti that I've had for years and the more it gets beaten up, the better it looks:
depends on what you mean by stylish i guess. i really like the archival clothing rucksacks - built to last, in the USA, by a small shop.
best backpacks i've seen, but not cheap
Duluth Utility Pack
and once, long ago, there was the suede TOJ daypack: http://toj.pixi.me/v/backpacks/2r79id5.jpg
The backpacks posted thus far are not good
Allow me to assist.

Trying to decide between a Herschel and a Duluth... :S
anyone have the Duluth Standard daypack? like it? looks pretty tough... http://duluthpack.com/school-campus/...-backpack.html
i own the duluth that i posted earlier so not same style but they are built to last... awesome quality and it fits a ton of stuff surprisingly
i assume this can be applied to all the other styles as well
if i had the funds i'd get this: fits how i like to wear--sometimes on my back or sometimes just holding the handle mix/match http://assemblynewyork.com/mens/asse...ility-bag.html
