1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

    There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Its an ad gussied up to look like a real system window to try to trick people into clicking on it.

    It's super sketchy and frankly scammy. SF should report the ad.

    I've banned more IP addresses in the last few days than I have in about a year. That, and keeping on top of it, is frankly all that any of us can do, short of revolutionizing the entire field of machine learning or increasing labor costs in India to a point where spamming the forum no longer becomes financially feasible.

    How about putting a bit of logic in place that prevents a new account from creating more than 1 thread per 24 hour period for the first 10 days after account creation.

    Jesus Christ, doesn't take a fucking rocket surgeon to work out what needs to be done.

    Guys, we may not be dealing with just Indian spammers. These may be gay Indian spammers.

    @LA Guy

    Is there anyway to allow HM's to hide all posts by a certain poster? We really only bust spam, and I can't imagine ever needing to kill only half of some spammers posts while preserving the other half.

    The other day I went through at least 200 posts in one sitting. I think I have about 150 waiting for me right now. I gotta get rid of them one by one

    I just knocked out maybe 20 threads or so, but they pop up faster than I can hide them. Off to a family Mothers Day picnic though now, hopefully they get spamminated sooner than later.

    Amateur. What you gotta do is open up 5 or 6 "See all posts by user" pages for each spammer in different tabs. Then go through them in sets of three (generally, you can spaminate two others by the time the first reloads). After you get down to a single user (like if one spammer has 50 posts while the others all had 10-20), open up different tabs of the same poster. Much faster than doing a single tab at once. You can do a hundred in 15 minutes that way.

    I have a different, but similar, technique.

    Either way, my home internet is too slow to handle that many tabs open, especially when they all have embedded videos.

    At work its no problemo.

    Stitchey - you mean that you look at SF at work?

    I am shocked, I tell you, absolutely shocked!

    P.S. Congrats on the latest addition to the family - very cute pic on your Tumblr recently.
