Silk CuffLinks for day; Silver for Night?

I think so unless you are at an interview / formal event that takes place during the day; I'm finding silk links are more elegant for day if I wear french cuffs, and keep the silver for night.

But I just found a pair of silver-bar-and-chain links that might just become ubiquitous in my attire.

LOL. I was sitting in a meeting recently and one of my partners asked me: "Couldn't find your cufflinks this morning?" I thought it was a comment about the fact that I'd been fiddling with one of my silk knots and made some response to that effect. He said, "those aren't cufflinks - those are those things that come with the shirt when you buy it!"
I think transparent metal cufflinks would be ok for daytime use.

Right, that's a level headed response, just teasing, I'm sure that's what their thinking, when the people I work with are some of the worst dressers in the world, think medical, and I'm wearing, nevermind. Metal cufflinks by day scream, "I'm trying way too hard" and is a distraction which is never good for business especially in rural areas (out of the city), understatement is. But when they see me a night or formal and I have they say, "Wow, he has cufflinks or is it good taste." It depends on the event/audience.

I have some tasteful and understated Tiffany silver links I wear for client meetings.

I think it's possible and very easy to go overboard with all the diamond encrusted links which takes away from the rest of the ensemble.

Exactly. Yea, as if a shirt couldn't come with some cheap metal cuff links. Or how about some of those corny over the top links.

Also, again it depends on who your doing business with, the venue.

I used to have a boss back in Indianapolis, who you to talk about the New York manager with a negative comment, yea, you move there and they 'wear cuff links' by a sarcastic nod as it being an ostentatioius, showy fem thing. Of course, he bought suits from Hong Kong that came in a plastic bag for 300 thinking he was really cool too.

Everybody's a critic nowadays.
