Signature Shoes

I'm trying to build a checklist for myself for the next few years/decades -- Trying to figure out what shoes to buy. I figure that I should start building a collection, buying the best from the best (yeah, it's going to take a long time).

I bought a pair of MTM Budapesters from Vass and I just love them -- but I've got to defer to all the board members here: What models are the "signature" shoe for the great makers (i.e., Edward Green, Lobb, J.M. Weston, C&J, etc.)? It'd be great if any of you could provide price ranges as well, so I know what I'm getting myself into...

Any thoughts?

Supposedly, the double monkstrap is Lobb's signature. I don't find it particularly attractive. I do like one of their single monks, though I don't recall the model name.

I don't know if the C&J Weymouth is considered their signature, but it is definitely on my checklist.

Kojinsky: It's aubergine, not eggplant.

Times have changed; when Lobb is actually a 'bootmaker' and all of a sudden I can't think of a signature boot in Lobb ready-made collections. EG, on the other hand, has a handful models that could easily be a signature model.

Eggplant has a more vibrant ring to it, heh. I also should add the Lattanzi Norvegese Oslo or Bentivegna (which he claims was stolen from him).

IMMSMC, there is the Lobb boot designed, supposedly, by Richard E. Grant. The "Richard", of course.

Now that you mention it, it does sound familiar. I can't remember exactly what it was like though. Wasn't it a boot with captoe?

Lobb's "Richard" is a plain toe ankle boot with a zip front. It's rather like a short version of a zipped Polo boot. As the blurb says:

This low zip-front boot reflects the sleek good-looks and idiosyncratic brilliance of the man who commissioned it and after whom it was named: the inimitable Richard E. Grant.

They work harder on boots. Afteralll, they pride themselves as bootmakers.

Something patinated, tattooed or scarified by Berluti, because even if they're overrated and overpriced, those aspects are insuperably gorgeous.
Vass budapests or U-last shoes -- especially a Hunter/Goyser side-lace shoe.
Butterfly-front shoe from Lobb St James', Edward Green, Foster & Son, or at a pinch New & Lingwood.
Edward Green Attlee, Dover, Southwold...

All excellent suggestions. If I ever happen to win the lottery and get a pair of Berluti's, I'd probably never wear them, just have them on display.

Suede cap toes. They are extremely versatile and stylish.

Work well with grey flannel, corduroy, tweeds, etc. That's why I have 5 pairs of them. All slightly different in color and cut.
