Hmmm, a couple ideas come to mind:

1) Grey wool sweater;
2) White OCBD with dark brown belt and shoes;
3) You could probably also wear a dark brown sweater, though I think if you wear something too dark in another color on top (black, navy) it's doing to contrast a bit too much. But I think brown works.

Not an easy match for sure. But could look great if done right.

My style is traditional with a twist. I would wear them with a navy blue wool blazer. A light blue shirt. Navy blue polka dot tie. Brown shoes and belt.

I have pumpkin colored cords and wear them with (a) navy blazer, gingham check shirt in either purple or blue (b) orange houndstooth check shirt under a chocolate brown sweater, with or without a jacket (c) green striped shirt which has a fine orange stripe in there too. Cordovan wingtips, oxblood penny loafers or suede shoes.

I think the key is either to go for complimentary colors - blue or purple, depending on how you look at the color wheel - or something with a touch of orange in there that the pants can pull out. I also find having some white in there - the background of the gingham or striped shirts - helps to keep it looking fresh.

These pumpkin cords are my favorite pants of the moment and great for this time of year!
