It'd be your friend buying it so I don't see a problem. However, if you think there's even a remote possibly that it would lead you to buy other stuff, then I'd wait.

Parchment Chuck 70s are a great summer shoe. Definitely work with your vibe if you don't want to wear boots all day.

I submit that through the input of your choice as to how this debt is repaid, you are using this arrangement to obtain an article of clothing you would purchase yourself were you not precluded by your no-buy commitment. You are therefore using a proxy to obtain an end of which you are consciously in avoidance, in accordance with a set of rules you have determined for yourself.

Your values have set forth rules as barrier to your desires, so that you may achieve an outcome transcending the ephemerality of want. To the extent you can convince yourself that purchase-by-proxy does not violate these rules, your no-buy commitment remains unchallenged. However, through your conscious involvement in the decision, you are demonstrating that these rules can be altered. You are lowering the drawbridge to the existing dissonance between your values and your desires. This dissonance, through its voracious search for calm, will dissolve your values in favor of the quickest resolution, that is, meeting your desires.

You will therefore find that through this single instance of purchase-by-proxy, you have ended your no-buy commitment. Had the friend, without your prompting, offered to purchase this shirt as a gift, the rules would not be challenged and the dissonance held at bay.

If you made a serious commitment to yourself to lay off getting new clothes, I’d pass. That said, the shirt is really nice (I dig the colors a lot). So I think it comes down to how much the no-buy thing was about simply saving money or some larger goal about consuming less and enjoying what you already have.

What are the thoughts on Alegri? Spotted this at my local TK Maxx. Apparently a £600 coat. They want £99. I must say, the quality felt first class. And it fit amazingly. I've stashed it to return with a blazer on to try this week as I fancy it for a daily going to my work trench as wearing my black Burberry trench everyday stresses me out. :pJust wondering what the thoughts are on the brand. I must admit, I thought I was au fait with my fair share of Italian Labels, but not this one! Thanks!
