Reminds me a bit of Rod Taylor in The Birds, though his were herringbone and the pockets were higher.

I think they can be cool but for a very specific look.

Hi guys,

I've wanted a 3PB from the Armoury for a long time but never pulled the trigger because I was unsure of the sizing. In the meantime and because I now have some items that I can compare the measures to, I'm quite sure that regarding the sizing a 3PB in "M" would be fine.

I live in a quite casual environment where no one really dresses up too much and therefore I often wear cotton slacks, chinos or denim with an OCBD and dark brown leather/suede loafers or derbies. I think the 3PB is an interesting piece because it can be dressed up or down quite easily and I think it would look good with the type of "uniform" I'm used to wear and could kind of replace a sportscoat in a more fun/playful way.

Here's the one I'm considering : https://thearmoury.com/products/cotton-ripstop-3-pocket-blouson?variant=31841623212103

Here are some of my thoughts :

+Well balanced and interesting jacket/blouson (I find these 3PB's more interesting than a safari jacket or chore coat, for example)
+Some interesting sartorial details
+Durable fabric
+Would probably fit my needs and environment

-This particular ripstop fabric might be a bit too casual but it is difficult to tell from the pictures
-Kind of pricey for such a jacket/blouson (that's something to consider but not a problem)
-Limited versatility compared to another 3PB in a non ripstop cotton or linen fabric?

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance :)

Can wear with either shirt and knit tie or t shirt no problem. Ripstop is quite subtle in the navy.
I have 2 3PB, one in Fox 4ply charcoal prince of wales, one grove green wool linen.

I like the 3PB because it's a short jacket that breaks up a casual outfit into thirds. You can see the same effect with bomber and trucker jackets. When you wear these with slim-ish pants, you create this lollipop silhouette, where you have long, columnar legs and a slightly rounded jacket, and the outfit can be broken into thirds where the bottom half is 2/3rds of the outfit and the top is 1/3rd. IMO, it has a flattering look.

I don't have any strong opinions about ripstop versus the other fabrics. If it were my money, however, I would probably choose the cotton panama over the ripstop just because I assume that the fabric will pair better with tailored trousers. I associate ripstop with military and workwear, and thus would mostly keep that ripstop version with jeans and chinos.

Been wanting a shearling jacket forever but never could due to $$$. Could this Lemaire be the one or too niche?

That is an incredible shearling. It is definitely not too niche. It is based on a classic design with a terrific large collar and a slightly dropped shoulder.

If this coat fits into your budget, you should absolutely get it.
