Shoe Masterpieces too beautiful to wear

Forgive me, if a thread like this already exists. I thought this might be of interest to all. Gentlemen, This thread will require meditation & reflection before answering. Therefore, Decanters, flasks, spigots & Barrels; snifters, mugs & green plastic tumblers at the ready..... Now..to the matter at hand... Tell us of the shoes you own, that you will never wear, because you regard them as absolute Masterpieces. Too beautiful to wear; that wearing them even once, would be an un-forgiveable crime; their workmanship and crafting and leathers so exquisite, that you had to have them for the sheer pride of ownership; that, no matter what other shoe is created, these and these alone, are the most beautiful creations of footwear that will ever exist. Perhaps there are that one pair of shoes, that you own that should be, or already are, on display behind glass perhaps, for all to see. Tell us then, if you would be so kind to enlighten, what make / model of shoes do you own, that you know you must never wear. As I am only of 'entry level' in my knowledge of the exquisite and exotic, I disqualify myself from answering. I leave this now, to you masters out there, that I and others may continue to learn from you. Awaiting with baited breath, the responses...

Surely it is an unforgivable crime to consider a pair of shoes too beautiful to wear or even to consider buying a pair of shoes that you would consider too beautiful to wear. In my considered opinion.

^What he said. While I have a few pairs that have yet to hit the pavement, I do intend to wear all of them. There's something about each well earned crease and the glow produced by years of waxing and proper maintenance that no EG or Lobb antiquing can come close to duplicating. Actual wear makes your shoes your own, way beyond simple ownership.

+1

If this is another plot to get pictures of the Aportnoy shoe closet (wing?), it is indeed one of the strangest.

And for the record, not all Canadians talk/write like this (not that there is anything wrong with that...)

+ a million.

Well worn and well-maintained shoes are a pleasure to look at, like antique furniture. Shoes don't become yours until you wear them - they will remain Lobbs or EGS or whoever the maker was.

SIgh. This thread reminds me of the Porsche forums that I frequent, and some of the "garage queens" that people own.

To me the enjoyment is in the using of said items

Shoes are made to be worn. I dont even like the idea of "beater shoes". It makes no sense to me to buy cheap shoes to tear up when you have good quality shoes to baby. If you plan on babying your shoes why spend the money on good shoes? Its like your not taking advantage of the quality of the shoe (hence wasting your money).
