Early attempts on this pair, but my technique has worked well on other shoes. Just dip the polishing cloth in a water/alcohol mix and work the polish. I've used excessive water in the past but don't think that's the problem here. Will try the renomat strip down and start again. If the same problem reoccurs, I might try to return them.

It is a flaw in the original dying job. Renomat is a very good product, but I seriously doubt it is a polish issue. I would definitely return them if possible. It will take a loooooooong time for polish to penetrate deep enough to fill that in well.

Okay. You're putting me to work. What do you want to see?

I can post images of Vass, Alden, St.C and EG shell. Remember that I am lazy though.

edit: also posted CJ and AC.

I love Belgian shoes but at that price point, that welt work is inexcusable.

As far as I know, there is no welt. The shoes are cemented (glued).

Probably over a span of 3 years....

What sort of footwear did you wear, before you "discovered Smirnoff" (and it's shattering effect)?

It looks like a "unit sole" to me. Meaning that it is not glued on in the conventional sense but rather hot molded to the bottom. The photo could be misleading but you don't get that smooth rounded surface from a glued and trimmed outsole.

Supposedly they stitch the upper to that uit sole through the bottom of the shoe. Don't know if this is true, but the inconsistency at the attachment points suggests that it could be....

Sometimes I wish I never "discovered Smirnoff" and its effects. This shoe hobby is time consuming, and expensive. I guess there are worse hobbies though.

I mainly wore Aldens and Camper shoes. Very casual work environment.

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and having picked these up yesterday, after having the luggage for awhile, thought they would be a good first post. I believe they are C&J for Brooks Brothers. Apologies for the poor pictures, dorm rooms are not great for photos and neither is my camera.

The sole really is sewn on to the bottom of the uppers.
