The Comfort Craftsman and Comfort Turnout have different construction from either the standard or the Dynamic Flex Craftsman.

The Comfort boots do not have a removable innersole if I remember correctly. The Dynamic Flex Craftsman does have a removable innersole, as do the Stockyard boots, such as the Mallee.

However I find these innersoles to be somewhat middling quality, with a relatively short life. Not something that you would want to buy to use in another boot. In fact, I use Superfeet insoles in my boots - Black for the DF Craftsman, Green for the Mallee.

Have a pair of "Ballinga" shoes from RMW, they are a work type shoe made from french calf. I've worn them maybe ~10 days in total to work now. Picked them up as they were on special during RMW recent sale.
They're quite comfy and I quite like them, however, I've noticed the left shoe has developed significantly more creases than the right. Looks a bit weird.

My RMW boots have not developed these one sided differences, so i doubt its related to my walking/activities.

What do you guys think, acceptable or not?

was deciding on a pair of craftsman.

went through the different constructions from the online catalogue, while RMW moved a long way in making their boots feel like wearing sneakers in their comfort tech and dynamic flex ranges, I wonder if the extra rubber foam and microfibre insole breathes as well as the leather insole, and how the supportive footbed affects the fit of shoes on the same last?

Even though RMW charges the same for all 3 constructions, I suppose we have to pay the same for perceived comfort with lesser synthetic materials compare to leather.

what do you think about bringing new technology and materials to traditional shoes?

It's probably more of a tradeoff between recraftability and comfort for certain folks. I suspect there's no rational reason for RMW to continue the Comfort line given the DF line, except for customer preference.

I do like my DFs.

I would say profit is the major motive (as it is with most things). The comfort line of boots, particularly the craftsman, is their best seller from all accounts I've been given from indept. retailers and RM's shop fronts.

I would've thought it was the other way around actually, concerning the continuance of the DF vs the CC range that is, as from what I can recall the major draw to the DF was that it was "airport friendly". At least that's what the marketing around it was when it was released.

Since all RMW boots have fibreglass shanks now one of the major draws to the DF range has been lessened. Although, it is no doubt the craftsman model of choice for those that require a specialised insole insert orthodic thingaby. (and possibly me too, with my stupid feet that might require a DF craftsman with the supplied insert removed to give one of my strangely elevated big toes the room in needs in the toe box that the CC with it's thick irremovable insole cannot provide)

Also, the DF "line" consists of one type of boot only as far as I've ever seen, at least in stores. Can DF turnouts even be ordered? I've only ever seen the one DF craftsman option in the catalogs.

It could be the end of the road for these boots. The inner toe box lining has given way and something that feels like a bit of plastic is now digging into my toes. I'll take them to my favourite boot doctor and see what they say and see how much it will cost. They have had a good innings and if it's a reasonable cost repair I will keep them, otherwise they will have to go and I'll look for a new pair of RMW.
