Retail Sales People Who Stare

I like to go clothes shopping. It's a moderate addiction. But when I do so in person, it tends to get uncomfortable. People frequently stare as I try on clothes.

What really annoys me is when the retail help does this. They stare and smile. They don't ask if I need help, just stare and smile. I'm a 'regular' and spend a good chunk of money at a couple of stores in particular. You would think that the store employees would want to make me feel more comfortable and avoid such behavior.

Anybody else deal with this? What's a polite way to tell these people to bugger off so I can shop in peace? If it were sales GIRLS, ok. But not guys.

You're either horribly disfigured or paranoid.

Maybe you've just got god-like good looks and they can't peel their eyes away from you.

Though I'm willing to bet that's not the case.

This, I'm usually dressed casual for shopping and I'm 21, so when I'm walking trough a store, especially if it's around the bit more expensive clothes, I always get stared at from the employees, I hate the uncomfortable feeling of being stared at but I hate the idea of having to dress up when buying clothes for dressing up.

+1, they don't care if you leave or not, so long as you don't steal anything while you're walking out. They do this to cover their butts, but unfortunately, also lose customers like this. I have walked out of stores when I was younger because I felt uncomfortable. Just walk up to another sales associate and ask them to help you instead, or just say "oh, that guy is helping me". Used to work for me.

You don't have to dress up to not look poor.
