I have that on literally every set of my red wing boots I own. I have never noticed it while wearing them.
It is very easy to replace just the heel and quite common. My cobbler is the authorized repair shop for our local Red wings stores . He charges $15-20 for a pair of new heels.I have a question for those who have some resoling done in the past.
I have a pair of the IR 8111 and have broken in nicely. The only issue I have is that the heel is too stiff for me. I have flat feet and my heel seems to strike the floor and take most of the impact. After awhile my heel does seem to hurt. Since the soles are no where near retirement, I looking at just purchasing a heel and having it put on, preferable a cushion heel.
Has anyone had the heel replaced only?
I am looking at the Goodyear Neolite or a Vibram Newton Moreflex in Brown?
Wonder if anyone has purchased the new 3321 Weekender? I went into my local store recently with the intention of buying the Hawthorne Muleskin Leather version to replace my sand suede CDBs. However I noticed that some of the threading attached to the welt were completely torn. I figured i would wait to buy a non-defective version however the salesman called me and proposed a 30% discount on the shoes. I could also pay full price once they receive more stock. I guess my question is whether the torn threads compromise the structural integrity of the shoe at all? Will they be more apt to fall apart with prolonged use than otherwise if they were in mint condition? Wondering if most people would take advantage of the deal?
I'd go for it if you really like the style of boot initially and don't wanna wait. I bet it'd take at least a year for you to notice the effects from the subpar welt, but the resole would be around the price of the discount so you'd break even. Plus red wings are $20 this month..
Yes indeed, much better..
