Hello,

Could anybody comment on the relative quality of Varvatos shoes/boots? I am looking for a Chelsea boot, found some of these shoes 50% off, and am wondering if this is a good deal or not.

Does anyone know who makes these boots? What type of brand they would compare to? (AE? Alden? better? worse?)

also any comments on fit?

tx!

JV shoes are very good for designer shoes (for a company who doesnt specialize in shoes only like alden or EG).

lot of their designs and earthen factor throws off the aesthetic for many people and thus they either love it or hate it.
i love JV shoes and some of their boots are very nice. getting them half off is a great deal but usually it is for past season merchandise.

they are on the level of AE quality (in durability, not quality control anomaly frequency)

I have had a pair of JV wingtips for about 3 years that I probably wear more than any other shoe. They are about on par with AE.

These boots that you've posted represent the pinnacle of JV finish and quality.

Their regular offerings are the same aesthetics and quality as NDC, Gordon Rush or Paul Smith or any other aspiration shoes brand.
Generally they are constructed from poor quality leather, stitched up without much attention to quality control and their unfinished soles are as ugly as anything that could be found at GAP, J.Crew or Banana Republic.
Buy it off Ebay if you like them, otherwise stay the hell away from that AmJack garbage.

Glad I saw this...I'm thinking about some of their boots

The John Varvatos back zip boots are poorly made. The stitching on one boot started coming apart after 1 month. Plan on wasting your time trying to return. Don't think about exchanging, unless you have time to waste.
