1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Pieced together, sounds fine; stereo stand is solid mahogany - hopefully one day I'll fill it.

I know those looked familiar. I currently have the MA RX6 with about 10 months on them and love them.

Even better. I actually like Monitor Audio speakers better than many B&W speakers. Good job.

Remember Monitor 20 years ago? They were the Brit gold standard.

Hello gents, been frequenting SF for a while but still a bit to learn on the fashion end before I have useful info to post in MC. The audio end however, that I am well versed in.

Main rig in our primary lounge area, high power solid state:

Secondary rig in smaller lounge area, low power tube based:

Glad to see some members are a bit beyond ipod/headphones, nothing wrong with them of course!

How do you keep the main rig ventilated inside that cabinet?

The components I chose actually don't mind the doors closed. For amplification I use Wyred class D amps, they put out 500+ watts a piece but barely get warm to the touch. My preamp is tube based but it also does not get too hot.

Great Maggies but they need more breathing room. I assume you pull them out for serious listening?

    I have 1.6s.

Nice pic. I love my VPI rig. Is that a ZYX cartridge? What other components do you use?

What are decent, beginner speakers for a turntable set? I would really like to keep it below $200

What do you power your 1.6s with? I would like to try tubes or an OTL eventually. I do pull them out a little and toe them in when listening critically, they are such great speakers they sound really good no matter what the placement.

MarkI, try and pick something up used from Audiogon. Many decent bookshelf speakers can be had for that price, Mordaunt Short is one brand that comes to mind at that price point.

It is a ZYX Airy 3. I also have a Lyra Dorian mono with a separate arm for mono playback. The rest of the components for this setup are a VAC Avatar Super integrated amp with a Bent Audio TX-103 Mu Step Up transformer, Theil Audio CS-2.2 speakers, Alesis Masterlink ML-9600 CD Recorder, and Scott Nixon Tube DAC USBTD/4XAC DA Converter for direct connection to a Mac for iTunes playback.
