Everything about this watch looks fake, especially the caseback with the chipping, and the crystal which looks dulled (a few scratches, I can understand, but this looks dulled AND scratched). I agree with other posters, look at the movement. Should be smooth. Also, obtain a small screwdriver and open it.

Holy crap, just listen to it already! If it is running and there is no noise, throw it in the trash and chalk up $65 to "education".

Don't listen to this guy. There are quartz hobnailed Pateks such as the 3944. This watch could be real, just take it to a jeweller to check the movement.

Mineral does scratch, but in my experience, watchmakers of PP's stature wouldn't use mineral. At the high end, they'll all use sapphire, and from what I've seen, most made the switch directly from plastic to sapphire. The only high-end watches I've seen with mineral have been very difficult to fit shapes that might be hard to cut sapphire to (Cartier comes to mind).

Makers like Omega and Rolex skipped the mineral crystals, and Omega still uses the plastic on some Speedmasters.

Was coming here to say this. Nearly every major watch manufacturer has or does manufacture watches with quartz movements.

This watch is a fake, however. The back is 100% wrong.

Very true. Almost the whole of PP's ladies line is quartz, and there were always quartz Aquanauts. It's also not improbable for this to have a cheap mechanical movement inside. If a prop manager cared enough to procure a specific brand of fake, and knew enough to buy PP, I imagine s/he would want one that had the seconds hand sweeping. Have you tried winding this one?

Here's a protip for everybody here, from somebody who owns a few "replica" watches with mechanical movements: All replicas pretty much use the same cheap-ass movement. It has a date function, even if there's no date indicator on the watch. So pull out the crown and set the time 24 hours ahead. If the watch clicks as you pass 12:00, that's the non-visible date indicator advancing, and it's fake.

As others have said, take a look at the movement. It will be very easy to tell with just a simple glance. Anything short of a magnificent finish is suspect.
