So I realized I had some money to throw around (not paying for alcohol, drugs, food etc.), and I decided I'd capitalize on my school's free cable. I wanted to buy a nice TV, but then realized a nice TV has poor resolution at a bigger size and is generally less versatile. Then I thought of how nice it would be to set up a good big monitor (27'? maybe 24'?) and have it serve a dual purpose of being a great computer screen (especially when I want to run some games) as well as TV system. But this is where I feel woefully ignorant. How exactly does one make cable work with a computer monitor. I'm pretty sure it can be done. Also how would I hook up a sound system to that? Could I just somehow hook up my iHome alarm clock/radio/speaker system/cell phone charger to that as well?
And what's a good big HD good resolution monitor to get? It should set me back only 200-300 bucks right?
is something like this a good deal?

. Or would my iHome be better for sound?
