Pants for heavy cotton sport jacket

I’ve got a black fitted sport jacket (Versace) made of pretty heavy cotton that I was wearing with skinny jeans and black HB loafers and oxfords. I want a little bit less casual look and I was thinking about grey wool pants. I like the color combination but the fabric quality does not match: one is sort of thick and heavy and another thin and light.

I started thinking flannel pants. Matching pattern or maybe flat??? Would it look kind of tucky? Other ideas?

Thanks,

Alex

Personally, I think that classic wool pants are a better bet than flannel, they won't look as weird as you think and they are more appropriate for a formal setting. I would suggest either charcoal or navy as a nice conservative option, maybe even burgundy.
