well as I stated, I did go by their sizing chart (agonized over it actually) and the pants I received were at least an inch big on me.

Next time I think I'd go with a 31 which is on the chart as 33" even though my waist measures 35".

That sucks dude, I can see how waist measurement on their site can be a little confusing. That said, I don't (especially since you agonized over it), think it is their fault. Know your specs bro. Know your specs.

What specs? There is nothing on this additional sizing irregularity anywhere I've seen, that is why I'm mentioning it.

If you think it is mentioned please include a link and not generalities. If you think I'm somehow confused by Pant Size compared to the Waist size in inches on their site, please re-read my posts.

Just letting people know how they fit, compared to the listed spec's on their site.

Maybe other people could post their waist size and what size pants they fit, like...

35" waist = fit 32 (34") in the OG's - it. 3 (with a 1/2 inch extra room)

I think Outlier fills a gap in the bicycle clothing market, at least in America. Most biking done in the US isn't on an upright utility bicycle with fenders and a chain guard (which normal clothes are fine for). The clothes normally offered for road bikes and mountain bikes tend to be very technical -- spandex tights, bright yellow jackets with reflectors, sunglasses with air holes. It's great for riding, but its ugly, and you really don't want to wear that to the office.

Wearing work clothes on a bike creates its own problems: grease smeared on your pant legs, chafing, sweating into your clothes, etc.

Outlier makes technical clothing that looks decent enough to wear into the office (see pic below), and for that reason I'm a fan. That said, it's too damn expensive and wish they'd drop the price.

So the consensus is--size down 1 or 2? Considering the slim dungarees. They have size 35 left, which would fit me in, say, Incotex, but a size 35 in APC jeans or J crew trou would be too big for me.

I recently bought Woolback OG and Autumnweight 60/30 Chino from Outlier. The sizing on both is typical jeans; one size (2") down from actual. Dress pants would be 34" for me, 32" in Outlier models.

outlier charges a hefty premium for using technical fabrics. Their meraino wool tshirts cost more than icebreaker.

Outlier's strong point is their pants, you won't find something similar in the Veilance range. Their merino tee do have increased a bit in price but saying they charge a hefty premium and then suggest Veilance as an alternative is hypocritical when you know that Veilance tees are over 150 a pce (not that they aren't nice).

I was interested in the Outlier brand for a while - last year I saw a pre-order deal for the Soft Core Wool Vest, which uses Primaloft insulation, so I gave it a try. I've been wearing it throughout the Fall and Winter, on its own and underneath a jacket. The charcoal grey is stylish yet understated and versatile. It's been a very solid purchase.

Yesterday I got one of their button down cotton 'pivot sleeve' shirts in the mail. Really, I got it because I wanted to see what sort of shirt they can make for $130. I wear a large in Gitman Vintage and thus selected Outlier's XL, which fits (dimension-wise) similarly. I have not worn it and thus cannot comment on the 'patent-pending pivot sleeve,' but it fits well and appears to be well-made.

I guess I sort of ignored the biking angle of Outlier - what interests me is the fact that they are a small, entrepreneurial outfit based in NYC whose goal is to make unique, high quality goods. So far I like the items I've tried - enough so that I'm strongly considering another purchase: the Storm King parka.

I just picked up the slim cut dungarees in blue and black, and they are fantastic. I have worn them everyday since I got them two weeks ago. The inside fabric softens up after a couple hours. They look like dress pants, but with a jeans styling. Great drape. And the best thing is, they feel like sweat pants. Very comfortable.

I read that they are vanity sized, but they are not doing anything for my vanity! My 31 in APC is a little baggy, and I wear a 33 or 34 in Levis, but must get a 35 in Outlier.

Anyway, highly recommend these pants. got my eyes on the New Works next, and hoping for the return of a shirt not on the site right now -- a waterproof oxford.

Yeah the slim dungarees are awesome. However, I took a 32 (while I take 32 in jeans as well), which fits good in the waist and slim in the legs (like how the model sized).
If someone has a indigo blue in 32 let me know, own the black but unfortunately the 32 has been sold out in blue a long time ago ;/

I've had some PM's about Outlier sizing so here's my updated opinion of what I own and have tried on:

I'm usually a 33 (35" waist)

Shorts:

The Three Way shorts are true to size... I got them in 32 and they're a little snugger than I'd like (was going by my OG sizing at time). I'd size up to the 34's if bought again -wish they did 33's.


Pants:

In OG's (own winters/4seasons) I'm a 32 , tried the 33's but I believe because of the curved waistband they run a bit big.
The Climbers I returned in 33, they were sized the same in the waist as the OG's - but too slim in the legs for me - so I didn't bother trying the 32's
My recommendation is to size down in both these pants

Have three 60/40's (2 chinos and autumns) all in 33, so the fit is true to size - they are snugger than the OG's in 32, in a good tailored way.
These are my favourite outlier pant overall, but not as good in rain.

The Workwears (guessing the New Works also) I'm also a 33, so true to size - tried on at Neighbour in Vancouver, where I bought my first 60/40's.
I own the slate grey in 32 and they are too slim / tight in the waist for me. *PM if any interest - prefer to ship in Canada


Shirts:

I've now 2 dress shirts in M - Northeast Pivot Sleeve Shirt in grey & Cali Short Sleeve Pivot Shirt in blue, both fit perfect & true to size.

Merino V Neck Tee in M light grey: Fit is true to size and was very nice merino, but was falling apart before the end of the first year and easily picked up stains. Now an expensive but super comfortable bum around / under shirt.

Fit pics?

These are 35s. I think they have stretched out a little since I first got them. A little loose, but I prefer that to a little tight. Nothing a belt can't take care of.

Comfortable as anything you could find. I'm even wearing them around the house instead of sweats!
