R+L=J. It makes sense on so, so many fronts. Also explains why Ned wouldn't talk about who his mother was--given Robert's known hatred of, and proclivity for killing, Targaryens.

And the fact that Arthur Dayne was meant to be one of the most honorable knights around, it's not too far to fetch that he'd give his life for the legitimate heir to the throne if he knew the boy's uncle would protect him with his life.

Darkstar is pretty good too right? He hasn't popped up yet though.

I thought he might be a possibility, too. The Dornish certainly seem to consider him dangerous to an extreme

As for Oberyn Martell, he killed The Mountain using a spear, not a sword. While I concede that he's probably exceptional with a sword, too, we don't know if he's top 3 in Westeros level with one. Regardless, he's a frightening killer. Oberyn is one of the characters from the book that I really wanted to see come to life on the show.

I'm looking forward to all the Dorne stuff. The description of the place in the book is really colorful (although Qarth in the show really let me down) and there are some several characters there I'm looking forward to seeing.

Last night´s episode was truly amazing. I think Jaime getting his hand chopped off outshined some of the "comedic" parts, like that little game at the beginning with the chairs; alos bron and tyrion reactions to pod getting laid for free. Tyrion´s scenes provide some of the best entertainment. But I also love Jaime and Bri,,,, Braime??

Last night´s episode e??

Dude, come on. I'm not watching the series, and I've read the books - so you're not ruining anything for me. But lots of folks are recording and watching the episodes later. Did it ever occur to you that there's a reason pretty much everyone (except you) uses spoiler tags to discuss recent plot developments?

If you come into this thread and you haven't kept up with the show then you get what you've got coming to you. All the book spoilers are tagged. Everything else is fair game. If you haven't watched yet, why read this? Either we're going to talk about the show or every ******* post is going to get spoilered because the babies can't resist themselves from clicking in here when they shouldn't.

Yeah, what he said.

Book spoilers get spoiler tagged, for show spoilers don't click the thread!

I'm patiently avoiding clicking on the mad men thread despite all of the unread posts since I didn't watch it last night.

Because I've read the books and find the discussion here mildly interesting, tough guy? Speaking of reading, I stated clearly in my post that it's not spoiling anything for me. Not sure if that point will be highlighted in the tv version, though.

Fair enough, just struck me as a bit discourteous to be posting developments from such a recent episode. But I'm not watching and only occasionally look at the thread, so apologies to Lionheart if I misconstrued the operating conventions.

+1. If I haven't watched the latest episode I just wont read the thread that is specifically dedicated to the show. The reader really has to take some responsibility to not to get spoiled if they care about it that much.

Maybe a mod could modify the thread title with a spoiler warning.

Yes please stop this effort. Book spoilers should be concealed, tv show fair game.
