What I find funny is that this isn't even a North Korean company. They even spent part of that interview talking about how North Korean companies "don't specialize" in anything, that they have many different operations under one umbrella, and that as a result they wound up with a mining company making the jeans rather than a textile company.

So basically, they found the worst place in the world to have jeans made by completely inexperienced people.

And there's not even any "authenticity" involved...it's not like this is some kind of bizarre North Korean workwear.

While I see your point, Burj Dubai has been the tallest building on Earth for quite some time. It will not be officially complete for another month, but it surpassed Taipei 101 a long time ago. Didn't it surpass the CN Tower as tallest structure in the spring? Sorry, a bit off topic.

The difference, to me, is that Taipei 101, in part, was built for revitalization. This company doesn't seem to be wanting to do anything to further North Korea, they seem to just be going for a mixture of elitism and shock. I can't decide if I think this will work or not. If jeans with flash art monogrammed all over them can sell for that price, I wouldn't rule this out as having potential. People will buy anything.

The Burj Dubai has long since surpassed the Taipei 101 in height. Just because a country has a tall building, doesn't mean its not third world. Taipei might be in fine form, but a lot of the country is still impoverished and underdeveloped. Same reason why China is still labelled as a developing country.
