Thank you.

While on the subject of white trews (and sunnier parts) sitting in the shade on yet another 115F day in Cave Creek Arizona.

(No, did not go into the Cave Creek Olive Oil Company and tell them I was a friend of Popeye.)

Getting back to the original subject, can also button all three buttons of the Brooks Brothers (Pre-OPH) wool and polyester hopsack blazer without any problems.

Had things turned out better, would have stayed in Arizona. Unfortunately, my friend, who I had known for over thirty years and who invited me there to live with her, was rapidly following her two sisters into irrationality, or as some might call it, insanity.

Amongst other things, she had become very argumentative. One day she got dressed to go to work and I said to her that today was Tuesday, so it was her day off. (She is a R.N. who works in a privately owned and operated loony bin.) She insisted it was Wednesday, argued with me extensively about what day it was, and set off for an hour drive across the desert to work. When she arrived at the loony bin, they convinced her it was Tuesday. so she drove another hour across the desert to get back to the house.

Her son (who I had known since shortly after he was born) and who had always been a very nice well behaved boy had turned into a 17 year old (later 18 year old) unspeakable monster.

A typical example was the night they started yelling and screaming at each other (which they often did) at around 2:30 in the morning. He drove her out of the house and she had to spend the night (a night it was around 102F outside) sleeping in her car (a Mini Cooper) in a Wal-Mart parking lot a few miles away where there were lights since the Wal-Mart was open 24 hours a day.

As a friend once asked me when I was telling her tales of woe about an ex - “Did you not see the signs?”

I forgive myself for being young and foolish and ruled more by emotions / heart than by logic / head but you can’t make that excuse!

Anyway it’s not particularly southern prep/ trad but I have a tobacco linen Suitsupply ‘blazersuit’ (patch hip pockets) for which I got a pair of Cream linen strides in case I want to split it up. I also have a brick red/brown wool cashmere SS blazer which I usually wear with mid-light grey flannels but got a pair of RLP ‘winter white’ heavy flannels for less businessy events and I think it looks great - a hint of a Fellowes plate without the spectators - but have to remember to pack grey under crackers to avoid any possibility of show-through!

Last time you picked a fight you were given a time out by the mods. One of them mentioned to me that all I had to do was report you to get you thrown out again.

I have never seen a posted pic of you in tailored clothing. You don't commission clothing. So if it isn't to pick fights (which you have already been tossed off the forum for) why exactly do you come here?
To fill the gaping black hole where his life is supposed to be.

Looking to refresh my madras shirting collection ahead of summer (and with something a bit better than J. Crew-levels of quality), but hoping to avoid jumping through the hoops of MTM at Proper Cloth or Spier & MacKay, if I can avoid it. Anyone have any suggestions?

I was going to say “Luxire” but then I saw you wanted to avoid MTM.

I have had pretty good luck with Spier’s off-the-rack shirts.

This may be a bit late as we are already moving into Spring, but I'd like to hear opinions on rugby shirts as over-shirt, under-jacket layers: acceptably Southern Trad, or abashedly Neo-Prep?

I’d say rugby over OCBD with or without a tie is Southern Trad. Adding a sport coat to this is not Southern Trad. It doesn’t get cold enough to really warrant the look. A lone rugby and a sport coat could be Southern Trad. Tucked in of course.
