Hey, would this fabric be good for an odd vest to use with other jackets? Or too busy

3.5m will get you a 2 piece.

Even if you are 6'4" ? I press b/c I think I have required 4.5 for a 2 piece and I know I gave 5m for a 3 piece, but I dont know if there was waste - could I have gotten a 3 piece from 4.5? You never get that feedback post-cut

If you don't know and you can't ask your tailor then order extra...

Sorry LordSuperb, I meant the other way - use the waistcoat from this as an odd to pair with a navy blazer or something

Thanks, do you mine me asking why you are getting 5? 3 piece?

3 piece and to have a bit extra for pattern-matching and if it had any repairable issues down the road.

I may bump it to 7 to get a 2nd pair of trousers.

Ah got it, get enough for a 3 piece and test it out on other suits. If it doesn't work you'll still have your 3 piece to wear.

Depends on who's cutting for whom. My usual establishments need 4.5m for a 2-piece, but one of them needs a full 2.5 for a second pair of trousers. On the other hand, I've given 5m to a very different place who could have made a second pair of trousers if I didn't insist on cuffs. So, best to ask beforehand, and remember that how they lay out your suit is a question of training that you're not going to blow in and "improve" just for your stuff.

Like others have said, definitely ask the tailor doing the work.

Greg, how much fabric does Formosa usually need for a 2 piece/3 piece?

3.5 for a suit. +1 for vest

Sometimes a bit more if pattern needs to be matched or for DB
