Got a new pair of boots delivered today and was delighted to encounter Meermins revolutionary new feature of a nail poking up through the sole into where my foot went: SmartSelectImage_2017-10-11-19-21-31.png

This just confirms my decision to avoid Meermin. I purchased a few shoes and a boot off ebay as new seconds. I could tell the workmanship was below others, example closest priced competitor is Carlos Santos and they are much better. I mean from the outside yea they look good but it is the inside that tells the truth on quality. I mean the nail is outrageous blazing but look around your picture. The stitching is sloppy, the cuts are sloppy, the glue is smeared all over, the insole is dirty. It is clear they are thinking out of sight who cares just slap it together no one is going to see it.

But other brands if you take a pic of the inside it is clear as much care when into the inside as the outside. I know when I get a new Carmina the inside is a work of art, the leather is all cut clean, every stitch is perfect, I don't see any glue, everything is clean and new looking, is is clear someone thought we better make inside the shoe perfect in case someone looks inside here. Same goes for Carlos Santos the inside is neat and clean.

It is a shame as Meermin has some real good offerings and especially good GMTO offereins at good prices. But I guess the age old "you get what you pay for" rings true with Meermin.

Wow I still can believe the nail and it looks rusty I hope you did not get cut. Let's see how they handle you with the nail in the shoe I'm curious what they do for you.

Carlos Santos shoes cost almost twice as much as Meermin (~300 EUR vs 160 EUR). No idea how you can call it close. I own several pairs of Meermin Classic Line and never had any quality issues. Sure they are not best looking and made from best leathers in business, but hey, again its 160 EUR shoe. And in my opinion quality is comparable to Loake 1880.

And Linea Maestro, which price is indeed comparable with Carlos Santos/Yanko/Carmina etc. is completely different from Classic Line in terms of quality (both craftsmanship and materials used). I own only one pair from this range, but IMO it is very well done and looks like much more expensive shoe, better than Carlos Santos. Please find me another shoe in 300 EUR range which looks like this:

If you are in the states you can get Carlos Santos from Saks off Fifth for $220 any day. If you wait they always have $30 off coupons and free shipping and sometimes an additional 20 to 30% off. I have paid as little as $109 for Carlos Santos on clearance from SoF but I would say the average is $165 for a brand new first quality CS shoe with shoe bags and a shoe horn delivered to your door. Now I admit the selection that SoF carries is limited but the price is right.

The cheapest Meermin I can find here in the states is from ebay they are seconds and average $110 and a whopping $35 for shipping so real close to $150 I would rather have the CS for a few $ more.

So below is a shoe that cost = to 185 EUR then take off the discounts and it brings it to 159 EUR and that is without any other discount that they have all the time. Again I admit they have limited selection but you can get a few areas covered and they cost is great. Now if you don't have access to SoF then there are a few places I found in Europe but the price is not as good as Saks.
