Matt, I see that some other ebay sellers are adding "A1P" to their listings.

Why wouldn't it be? And what do you mean the issue would be with roped shoulders?
Because removing the padding from the chest/lats area and leaving shoulders roped would look funny. I'm visualizing something like a Boglioli "soft", near or entirely unpadded/unstructured, jacket but with roped shoulders like yours; it would be a mismatch of styles.

Maybe you can pull off something less dramatic that still flows, but I'm with @othertravel :

Don't remove the padding. It looks great as is.

Just to be clear, I am talking about the shoulder padding, but maybe you are right and I should just leave it be. Have to lengthen the sleeves at least but otherwise this is prob my best fitting otr jacket.

Do that; get the sleeves proper'd and discuss the padding and what you'd like to achieve with your tailor. He'll have a better perspective with the jacket first hand anyway. Plus, stranger things have happened, but once you get the sleeves sorted you just might change your mind.

Regardless, great kop + good luck!

Leave it as is! Messing with the shoulders is generally a bad idea.

You did very well yesterday.

No, no, it shouldn't.

Yes it should! Especially as I want to buy an SEH Kelly coat and some brown boots for winter. I am actually relieved that I've been outbid on a Chester Barrie toffee cashmere overcoat; I have wanted something like that for a long time but I really don't need it (especially as I just won the black Paul Smith one a week or so ago).

Fear not, I'll be back. And it doesn't look like you're suffering for customers!

I've removed shoulder pads on countless jackets over the years. If you are having problems with the shoulders then removing the pads probably wont help. If you simply want an unpadded look then it can work well. But beware, removing them on a very padded shoulder can make the jacket look deflated or lumpy so I would only recommend doing it to light or moderately padded ones. Removing the padding on a roped shoulder jacket should be possible without destroying the roping because they are two separate pieces. However, sometimes the shoulder pad is attached using the same seam as the sleeve head pad so removing one necessitates reattaching the other. Something most good tailors should be able to do.

just got my latest purchase from spoo, steven salen bespoke cash sc. Fit is pretty damn good without any alterations if you ask me. Gonna get rid of the padding and lengthen the arms a couple cm, but otherwise don’t think anything else will be needed. Fabric is bonkers

That was a gorgeous jacket and I appreciate you noticing the quality beyond a common brand name - and thus you reap the benefits.

Looks like someone made an epic haul over the weekend... IG pics are on fire. They weren't exaggerating about needing a truck!

I must have got $100,000 at retail from that one haul. Then today another $25,000 at least. My locals are on fire!

No way, really? LOL

Wait till you see the Turnbull & Asser covert coat with Chesterfield collar coming up in a few weeks!
