@Munky Speaking of the lower tier Loakes - I think I've seen you mention that you own a pair of the Loake Mojave derbies. Would you recommend them? I love to wear plain toe derbies in suede during the summer and I want something nice and casual with a great big rounded toe to wear with chinos and denim.

It is interesting that you ask that! I wore them for the first time in, probably a year, recently. They seem very comfortable and I am not sure why I didn't wear them more often. I plan to wear them on holiday, later this year and think that they will go well with jeans, chinos or whatever. They seem well put together and I reckon they will be great summer shoes. I have just bought a lightweight, blue, Christy's trilby and that should take care of the look! I am a hat fan as much as a shoe fan. I don't think you would regret buying the Mojaves. Yours, as always, Munky.

Does Loake do single MTO or GMTO?

Nope. They do not allow either. Loake is all about efficiency, you can never get that with a MTO program. It's also why Santos does not allow MTOs.

Can anyone comment on the Legend Last / F fitting. I'm getting conflicting advice with sizing, some say to go a half-size down from your TTS so US 8 = UK 7.5 ---> UK 7. Others have said to go 2 sizes down to UK 6 since its a big boot. I wear 8 US in most shoes.

The particular model im interested in is the Loake Mitchum chealsea boot.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

I didn't found an answer for this query, the same that I have now. I am interested in the Loake Mitchum but I don't know how much do I have to downsize.

Thanks in advance for your comments or advise. :)

That's odd, another CS retailer here does offer MTOs (8 pairs minimum).

That’s not a MTO, that’s a GMTO in my book. The broad definition that we use here on Styleforum and most premium shoe retailers is that a MTO is a single pair order for one specific client. And a GMTO is a group order, depending on the maker it may be around 4-8 participants, all ordering the exact same style but in different sizes.

The way Loake uses the term MTO is a bit unorthodox to me personally, I would call it a “store special”. But hey, they’ve been around a lot longer than I (or Styleforum) so maybe they have the truth of it.

If that's the case, would there be interest in an Export Grade MTO through this mysterious retailer? Would be cool to make a unique makeup in Export Grade standards (double monk, chukka, etc...).
