I'm looking to buy a new pair of jeans, I normally wouldn't make a fuss, but I need some suggestions. I DO NOT want Diesel's.

I'm looking for a beat up pair that just looks worn, not the faded look that Diesel has played out or a solid color. I might be looking for a boot-cut style, but have never really tried it so i don't know for sure; these jeans defiantly have to be slim fitting. How are those Paper, Cloth, and Denim jeans and the Levi's Red line? Anyone familliar with these in terms of quality, style, fit, and price? Any suggestions are welcome.

Dolce and Gabanna jeans are probably the most 'beaten up' jeans available, and are tight fitting. I suggest you check them out, although they might be too extreme for what you are looking for.

I agree that D&G jeans are great. I bought a pair last week and they are the best fitting jeans I own. And I also hate Diesel.

I was looking for that worn-but-not-sandblasted look myself. I settled on a pair of Gucci jeans after seeing a runway pic and then checking out their website. They were slightly darker looking in person, but that's OK with me; cleaning and general wear should lighten them a bit (the pair I'm referring to is the one featured with the bright pink sweater.)

I like the fit and finish of Dolce & Gabbana jeans, but alot of the ripped stuff turns me off - IMHO it looks a little contrived. If RL doesn't turn you off, try something from their RRL line. I have a boot cut pair which have broken in very nicely.

In terms of fit, my favorite jeans are Helmut Lang & Marc by Marc Jacobs. However, I don't think either brand makes "beat up" looking jeans--just faded ones.

The reason why i don't want Diesel is because here in NYC, EVERYONE has at least two pairs (including myself). While they are still cool and trendy, i feel as if their just becoming a parody of themselves. I just want something different. I saw a pair of new Sandy Dalal jeans in Bloomingdale's that looked quite nice, also a lot like the Gucci jeans with the crease in the middle.

I think that PCD jeans are pretty good. Their washes are significantly more sophisticated than those of Diesel, and the denim they use is extremely soft. The downside is that they are not nearly as durable as Diesels.

Personally, I think that to avoid being a poseur, you should either hit up thrift shops for real vintage, or wear jeans that you've personally worn out. My favorite pair are a pair of old bootleg cK jeans I've worn since the early nineties. They used to be a very dark indigo, but wore out and faded after years of wear and hundreds of washes, and I took them to denim specialists to be reconstructed.

Slightly off topic again, but has anyone in NYC (or LA) checked out Rogan (mentioned in Spin, Details, etc.)? Brochure type website at www.rogannyc.com. The clippings sound intriguing, but my being 900 miles away from the nearest store doesn't help

I give my vote to the Levi Red line for they are simply great. The denim itself is of their best quality, and has an 'old time' apperance to it with an almost 'heathered' look of small white strands within the indigo. I'm more for the engineered styling of them for it sets them apart, both visually and with the wear, from any other jean out there. I have two pairs, one which is more slim fitting with a button down rear pocket. The other has what appears to almost be a blue chalk line down the sides where the seam should be on a normal pair of jeans. Only thing is best of luck in trying to find them. I was lucky enough to happen upon mine while checking out a local Marshall's for the first time, on the discount rack for $8 no less. It seems that people in my area are clueless unless it has Tommy or Sean John writ large across it, but then that's to my benefit. I have some links I could post up if you want to see pics, or you could possibly order from them even though they're out of either the UK or Japan.

Could you please post those links; I've had those jeans in mind before posting this topic but i would just like to take another look. I know that Barney's carries them; I bet thier alot more than $8 there though.

Checkout Levis UK website to get a feel for what the jeans are like.  You could go to their N. American site, but personally I think it sucks.
