This pair have been worn over 400 times. Leather is horsebutt and heel is also unstiffened

Just going to share this bit of neurosis: I am bothered by the imprint that supportive inserts/insoles leave on the heel of leather shoes.

I’m also suspicious that in a brief period of trying such inserts out in my Lofgrens I may have overly compressed the cork or whatever layer that is part of the midsole.

Just going to share this bit of neurosis: I am bothered by the imprint that supportive inserts/insoles leave on the heel of leather shoes.

I’m also suspicious that in a brief period of trying such inserts out in my Lofgrens I may have overly compressed the cork or whatever layer that is part of the midsole.

I never knew supportive inserts/insoles left imprints until the other day when I went looking for a pair of beaten up -in other words patinaed- Vibergs. I thought it was odd when the seller mentioned the imprint on the sole. I asked myself, "why'd the hell describe that? ". Now I know.

I'm more concerned about the scuffs boot pullers leave behind. I bought a pair of Lofgrens and regrettably, a cheap bootpuller. I get too paranoid to use it. Eventually I'll stop caring but it is always really difficult in the beginning.

I don't think you've compressed the cork fill or layers of leather much with your insert.

Jeremy told me it might be relevant to post here, so howdy folks, hope you like really tall boots, because we're brining some really darn cool ones to the states next year.

Production has not yet begun. These "Transcontinental Boots" are a collaboration between Black Sign Garments and Clinch, with Clinch doing all the production at their Brass Tokyo workshop. Expected delivery for them is Fall/Winter 2022.

Until October 29th, they can be pre-ordered from the S&S website on either the CN WIDE or CN-S Last, which are (in our opinion) Clinch's best lasts.

They stand a little over 16" tall, and feature O'Sullivan cork outsoles and heels. The hardware is tonal brass, and the leather is Black Gustave Cowhide - a combination-tanned tea core leather from the oldest operating tannery in France.

Pre-Orders close on October 29th, 2021. Additional photos and information can be found on the S&S Thread here on styleforum, and on our website.

@StrangeJeremy While those boots aren’t exactly for me, now that you guys are stocking black sign any chance of carrying their regular footwear offerings? Their military boots and service shoes have always looked rather nice, but very little info on them from what I’ve tried to look up.
