The Islay seems to be a country shoe?

However, C & J probably put some thought on which shoes to place in the movie, and I think there are much nicer C&J styles, a brown 348 Gatsby, or a Tan 358 Rosemoor. But that´s of course that´s just my view.

Once Gordon Gekko managed to get rich again he went straight to C&J's shop in London.

If he/MI6 has enough money to afford Tom Ford MTM and Aston Martins, why not go with Cleverly bespoke?

Are you doubting that companies pay for product placement? Because in Hollywood these days, they've started more and more to build plots around product placement rather than going the other way around. It's really big money these days, and having the character walk into a store with your name on it would actually be a fairly subtle means of going about it. Pay attention to how many movies open with a car driving up, camera panning in on the grill with an extremely close shot that ends up with the lens about a foot away from a giant ford logo.

Heineken already spent a boatload of money to have James Bond drinking beer rather than a vodka martini in the upcoming movie. If you don't think that the James Bond people are requiring barrels of money to associate their name with James Bond, you're nuts. Daniel Craig might have requested them, but Crockett and Jones wouldn't be able to mention that association without a massive copyright lawsuit unless they paid the studio a whole hell of a lot of money.

In this era of movies, if you ever see a brand name, obvious or not, they've paid money to be there. Having a main character representing a certain element of society you want to market to walking into your store as the first thing they do when they have money again? That's not just product placement, that's a flat out ad, and there is absolutely no way a studio executive would let that one by without a decently large sum of cash on his desk.

I heard the shipping is 40 pounds if you order directly from them. Most of the online retailers now have waiting lists going into next year, but quite a few of them have free shipping. I guess the shipping price isn't too bad, considering the wait is probably going to get even worse with the publicity.

Of the shoes in the image, I can only imagine bond wearing the 3 eyelet blucher.

Those boots are far too old country English for him. They're not bad, I just don't think they suit his character.

Perhaps we'll see them in the movie and I'll have to eat my words.

You speak very authoritatively on the subject of Skyfall product placement, but seem to be ignorant of this fact. Movie producers do not place products in their movies for free. If you do something well, never do it for free.

Ian Flemming made sure to include brand labels in his novels because, at the time, people had little access to luxury items. Bond makes pretty explicit note of where and how he spends his money in Moonraker and, and trust me, he doesn't ''overspend'' on things. Inflation aside, one could get a bespoke a lot cheaper than one can now. Of course, the Bond of the 50s and 60s was a lot less vain than the current incarnation. He had a Rolex because at the time, Rolex was still affordable and reliable. His Bentley was purchased first with inheritance and then with casino winnings. When he wasn't on assignment, which was most of the time, he was an out-of-shape alcoholic who spent too much time golfing and playing cards. He mostly ate eggs and toast and slept with married women because he feared commitment, or having one of them get hurt/killed like his dead wife. His suits were made for him, partly because Flemming had pretensions and partly because Bond didn't want to *think* about that ****. He just wanted clothes to wear and forget about. On assignment he mostly purchased whatever was there- hell, he wore jeans, espradelles, and a tshirt in Thunderball and Dr.No. In the short stories, he goes on a lengthy tirade about how much he hates leather soles- rubber are far more comfortable. When the films came out, Flemming thought it would be important to continue the trend of brand-dropping that had been in the novels. As time wore on, the movies became a caricatured version of the original. TBH, Casino Royale is the closest to literary-Bond since the mid-Connery era. If Bond thought a windsor knot on a tie was garish, he certainly wouldn't be caught dead in a Tom Ford suit, as beautiful as they are.

First I hope you accept my apology for using your avatar regarding a comment that was made by "dinowhite". That was my bad.
Next, no I don't follow the production of Sky-fall or any other production. That's not my interest but thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I'm in the shoe biz. All I ever said was Craig wanted to wear C&J in Sky-fall. The rest of this stuff is ? to me.

I am SUPER pissed this is happening, for the sole reason that it means there will be less supply to go around.
Gone are the days where you could order any C&J shoe on demand from P. Lal or Bodileys or Pediwear for an excellent discounted price. Shipped right to your door.
I bought my first pair of C&J's from P. Lal in 2007. Those were the halcyon days.
Wall Street 2 too?
Damnit, C&J, quit increasing the exposure and prestige of your brand.
