How to use checkbook wallet??

Can someone please tell me how to properly use the checkbook wallet? Got one as a gift.

The right side of the wallet is obvious..but the left side is a bit interesting. And here's where i'm lost: Where exctly does the check suppose to do? in between the flap? or the last hard page of the check fits in between the flap???

The hard cardboard backing on each book of blank checks tucks into the rear-most slot. This holds the blank checks in place and allows access to them all. The extra flap is for the carbon copy so that your pen pressure doesn't go through beyond the top check.
